BUS TYPES

Introduction

Most motherboards have more than one bus type on them. The following information should help you determine if you have the required slot on your system for the installation of the card.

  • Our WarpExpress, F/Port and 1284Port cards require one open ISA slot on your system.
  • The WarpPCI (both single and dual port models) require one open PCI slot.

Examine your motherboard by following these basic steps:

Turn off your computer, unplug it from the electrical outlet, and take the computer's cover off. You will need to remove some screws before sliding the cover off. Refer to your computer manual if you need more detailed instructions.

OVERHEAD MOTHERBOARD VIEW

Here is an overhead view of a generic motherboard.
Your board may not look exactly like this and may have more or less slots than shown.

Put your mouse pointer over the motherboard to see the bus types.

The slots that are approximately 5 1/2 inches in length (usually brown or black) are ISA slots. They look similar to this:

If you have one ISA slot open, the WarpExpress, F/Port and 1284Port cards will fit into your system.

The slots that are approximately 3 inches in length (usually white or cream colored) are PCI slots.

If you have one PCI slot available you can install our WarpPCI card.
